Think Pokémon meets Modern Mobile Games
The game is visually appealing, and the voice acting is professional and a nice touch. Obviously its slightly racy, but thats their target demographic.
The game has elements of games like Pokémon, an element/type system, and each character has a special ability, but where the two become dissimilar is in the actual gameplay.
Whereas Pokemon required active user participation to find and win fights, this game is largely passive. Sending your characters out on Explorations levels them up risk free, gets you materials, and they will discover more enemies to fight while theyre out. You cannot find things to fight on demand, but chances are you wont go long without a fight.
The game uses multiple energy systems to restrict the player and push cash shop items, which are brutally priced, however there are enough ways to earn Crystals in game to offset that feeling, and there are a few permanent investments that make Crystals worth it, like the Exploration slots.
In terms of actual gameplay, when you queue a fight with an NPC, or "Irregular", you use some MP (energy sink) and the fight plays out beyond your control. Your characters damage is dictates by their elemental matchup with the enemys, and occasionally their abilities will activate, some more than others. You can repeat fights until an enemy dies, and if your team dies or is injured they are healed to full at the end of each fight. The only restriction is MP.
The collection/team management aspect is fairly in-depth, with a variety of options to recycle unwanted Sidians (characters) or turn them into upgrades, direct or indirect, for Sidians you plan to cultivate. You can obtain Sidians either through cash shop luck (using premium Crystals or regular Gold), doing the confessions minigame, or capturing them after beating them.
Overall the game emphasizes the cash shop heavily, however it does not cripple the player in doing so. Theres a distinct lack of mechanical gameplay, but this is offset by the complexity of the team management systems. If you are looking for a gameboy style mobile experience this may not be for you, but if youre more comfortable with the recent style of mobile games youll feel right at home.
